The Print Room
The Print Room brings measurable print setup into Bytes. A print asset can connect a product, a Bytes Link, measurement values, QR output guidance and artwork in one place.
The Print Room is currently a closed beta. It appears in the Bytes workspace navigation only for workspaces that Jawwws has explicitly enabled. A workspace plan does not automatically grant access.
If a workspace is not enabled, operational Print Room routes and APIs remain unavailable. Existing Print Room data is preserved if closed-beta access is later disabled.
For enabled workspaces, the current workflow helps prepare and review a measurable print asset before later quote, order and production steps.
QR placement guidance
For a Print Room asset, Bytes uses the saved QR Output Profile to show practical placement guidance before you add the QR to artwork.
You may see:
- the recommended physical QR size
- the absolute minimum physical QR size
- the expected scan distance
- the required quiet zone
- the selected print size where Bytes can resolve its dimensions reliably
- a warning if the chosen print dimensions are too constrained for the recommendation or minimum
The recommended size is the preferred target. The absolute minimum is not a design target; it is the lower safety boundary calculated for that profile.
Placement still needs design judgement
Bytes does not currently position or merge the QR into your uploaded artwork in this step.
When placing the exported QR:
- keep the full quiet zone clear
- keep it away from trim edges, folds and perforations
- avoid visually busy areas behind or immediately around the code
- do not stretch, crop or distort it
- scan-test the final artwork at the intended viewing distance before production
A message saying the recommended QR fits the selected print dimensions only means the print dimensions are large enough to contain it. It does not prove that a particular position inside the artwork is safe.
Export the same QR profile
Use Export QR from the print asset to create the production file. Bytes carries the saved QR Output Profile into the export flow so the intended use, scan distance and physical size remain consistent.
Depending on the format and your plan, the export flow can then offer SVG, PDF or high-resolution PNG plus the QR appearance options available to your workspace.
Artwork
You can attach artwork to the print asset for review. Current basic checks confirm things such as file type, file size and whether a preview can be shown.
These checks are not a full print preflight. Follow the artwork review guidance shown in Bytes before treating a file as production-ready.
